Fortum Batterie Recycling ist Teil des Fortum Portfolios und ein Spezialist für das Recycling kritischer Metalle in Lithium-Ionen-Batterien für Elektrofahrzeuge und industrielle Anwendungen.
Die CO2-optimierte Batterierecyclinglösung zielt darauf ab, bis zu 80 % der Batterie zu recyceln und bietet die Möglichkeit, bis zu 95 % der in der schwarzen Masse einer Batterie enthaltenen seltenen Erden und Metalle zurückzugewinnen. Fortum‘s Batterierecyclingtechnologie basiert auf eigener Forschung und Entwicklung und das Unternehmen prüft kontinuierlich Möglichkeiten zur Erweiterung seiner Recyclingkapazitäten in Europa.
Im März 2023 hat Fortum Batterie Recycling in Kirchardt, Deutschland, eine Recyclinganlage für EV-Batterien eröffnet. Mithilfe dieses Hubs kann Fortum seinen Kunden in Deutschland und angrenzenden Ländern wie Frankreich, Belgien und den Niederlanden Dienstleistungen für die Abholung, Sammlung und Verarbeitung von Altbatterien und Produktionsausschuss anbieten. Die Anlage in Kirchardt kann mehr als 3.000 Tonnen Lithium-Ionen-Batterien pro Jahr behandeln und ist mit den Standorten Ikaalinen und Harjavalta in Finnland verbunden, wo im nächsten Schritt der hydrometallurgische Prozess des Recyclings stattfindet. Fortum zeichnet eine langjährige Erfahrung in der Behandlung gefährlicher Abfälle aus, damit wird den Kunden ein zuverlässiger und sicherer Service angeboten.

It’s low-CO2 battery recycling solution aims to recycle over 80% of the battery, providing an opportunity to reintroduce up to 95% of the valuable metals present in the battery's black mass back into circulation. Fortum's battery recycling technology is backed by in-house research and development and the company is continuously exploring opportunities to expand its recycling capacity in Europe.
In March 2023, Fortum Battery Recycling started EV battery recycling operations in Kirchardt, Germany. With the use of this hub, Fortum can offer its customers in Germany and neighbouring countries such as France, Belgium and the Netherlands services for the pick-up, collection and processing of used batteries and production waste in the nearby area. The facility in Germany can process over 3,000 tonnes of batteries per year and is directly connected to Ikaalinen and Harjavalta site where the hydrometallurgical process takes place. Fortum is distinguished by its many years of experience in the treatment of hazardous waste, enabling it to offer its customers a reliable and safe service.
